Responding to Pirate Party MP Sven Clement, Bausch announced that the state's energy produced by photovoltaics has tripled in the past six years. The aim is for solar power to help the state produce twelve times the electricity produced in 2013 by 2022.
Clement had queried how much electricity the state produces through renewable energy, notably through solar panels installed on public buildings. According to Bausch, the government has invested €8.6 million per year over the past five years into energetic restructuring.
Twelve state buildings are fitted with solar-thermal systems, with a further 28 buildings fitted with solar panels. In total, the state uses around 500 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy for heating purposes per year, alongside 240 gigawatt-hours for its annual electricity.
