The patrol in question was heading back from a routine check when the drink driver overtook them. Elsewhere, officers revoked three more driving licences over the weekend.

The prosecutor’s office commissioned three routine checks on Friday night: on the R12 in Saeul, on the RN22 in Redange/Attert, and on the RN21 in Mertzig. Police stopped 516 motorists, out of whom seven tested positive for alcohol. Officers issued three fines and four warnings, and revoked one licence.

On their way back to the station, one of the police patrols were overtaken by a speeding car on the N7 near Hoscheid-Dickt. They pursued and stopped the vehicle as a consequence. The driver immediately admitted to having consumed alcohol, which a test confirmed. Officers thus revoked the man’s driving licence.

Police carried out a routine speeding check on the N10 near Grevenmacher at 3am on Saturday. While they did not find anyone going above the limit, they stopped one car for driving suspiciously slow. The driver’s alcohol test result showed more than twice the permitted rate, which is why officers revoked his licence at the scene.

At 9am, police caught another drink driver in the capital’s Gare district. Upon checking the man, they found that his driving license had already been revoked. His permit was thus revoked provisionally for a second time.
