The search of a residence near the ‘Op Acker’ primary school on Avenue de Luxembourg, Käerjeng on Thursday morning formed part of a special judicial investigation commissioned by the prosecutor’s office.
The N5 was closed while police redirected traffic, but has since reopened.
According to RTL sources, a number of objects were confiscated from two different apartments under the Weapons Act, including a homemade explosive device which was later dealt with by a bomb disposal unit.
Sources say the search focused on an apartment belonging to two brothers with Luxembourgish nationality.
Witnesses at the scene told RTL it was not the first time police had been involved at this location, following a major intervention several weeks ago.
Investigations focusing on one person are still ongoing.
