Black Friday has become an unavoidable shopping trend.
In Luxembourg, Black Friday is taking place while the country has returned to partial lockdown regulations: with cafes and restaurants having had to close down since Thursday.
Questions have been asked on whether the multitude of online shopping options and promotions or a genuine fear of contracting Covid-19 that has noticeably reduced punters in the stores?
Even with additional measures being taken into consideration, Black Friday in Luxembourg has been very quiet. Kirchberg's Auchan complex, for example was far from overwhelmed on Friday 27 November.

Some 60 customers 'rushed', under the shutters as they were raised, hoping to grab a bargain.
"I came here early for a specific toy: a Lego Tecnic Lamborghini car, 40% off. It's a really nice deal," said Joe, who came especially from Echternach on Friday morning.
"This is the best offer I've found and it's much cheaper than on the brand's website," explains Sophie (not her real name), from Walferdange. She immediately adds: "It's a Christmas present for an adult." The collectable toy is sold for around 400 euros on the internet.
Martio, like many others, headed straight for the computer department. He had come in from Schouweiler with his two sons (before school started), with the aim of "buying a laptop with an interesting price and a good setup". The one they were looking for is worth nearly 800 euros and is sold for half price during this promo. While he's talking, a client leaves at 8:10 am. with two computers under her arm.
Instead of focusing on this one day on Friday, as the name would suggest, some of the major retailers, and also small businesses in Luxembourg, have expanded the operation to take in the whole weekend, or even an entire week.
