A supermarket, multiple shops, and a crèche housing 50 children at the Zolwereck shopping centre in Soleuvre were evacuated on Thursday morning following concerns over a malfunctioning boiler. The incident prompted a swift response from the local fire brigade.

The alarm was raised at around 11am after the central gas boiler in the Zolwereck complex began exhibiting unusual and concerning behaviour. The Soleuvre fire brigade arrived promptly and coordinated the evacuation of all customers from the supermarket and shops, as well as the 50 children and staff from the crèche.

After thorough inspections by firefighters and technicians, the all-clear was given, allowing everyone to return to the premises safely after a 45-minute wait. No injuries or damages were reported.

Spiess Estelle, the crèche manager, confirmed that the evacuation proceeded smoothly. “Everything went well,” she stated, noting that the children were cared for by educators and temporarily sheltered in a nearby café and real estate agency during the incident.
