The perpetrator had for a while been one of the most wanted criminals in Europe, having been on the EU's Most Wanted list from December 2016 to July 2019.
Two accomplices had previously been sentenced for their roles in the assault.The three defendants were also sentenced to pay nearly half a million euros in damages.
