
In total, police carried out 341 alcohol checks on motorists over the weekend. Seven drivers tested positive and one driving licence was revoked on the spot.
In addition to alcohol-related violations, four other offences were recorded. In one case, a driver was reported for operating a vehicle without a licence.
Elsewhere on Sunday morning, police received a report of a car with its hazard lights on in Sanem. The driver was found asleep behind the wheel in the middle of the road. A police patrol located the vehicle and carried out an alcohol test, which returned a positive result. A temporary driving ban was issued.
On Sunday evening in Redange, a vehicle reportedly crashed into a hedge. The car had a damaged tyre and the driver was located shortly after. An alcohol test came back positive, and the motorist’s driving licence was confiscated.
In the early hours of Monday morning, around 1.30am, police carried out a traffic check in Mertzig. Officers immediately noticed a strong smell of cannabis and reported that the driver was uncooperative. A search of the vehicle revealed drug-related paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. The substances were seized and a police report was filed.
