Residents in France will only be allowed to leave their homes under specific conditions once the new lockdown comes into force on Friday. Although they will be authorised to go to work, see a doctor, buy essentials or help those in need, they will not be allowed to pop over the border for shopping or to fill up their cars again until 1 December.
These conditions have sought for traffic jams and chaos in parts of southern Luxembourg as French residents seek to make the most of their border freedoms before 30 October. Petrol stations in Pétange and Rumelange were extraordinarily busy on Thursday afternoon as a result.
