For National Day 2026, RTL will broadcast a range of special programmes and live coverage on both the eve of the holiday and the day itself.

Last year's National Day was a particularly notable occasion, marking the 25th anniversary of Grand Duke Henri's reign and serving as his final celebration before his abdication. This year's festivities will be the first National Day for Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie.

The eve of National Day

On the eve of National Day, viewers can follow Grand Duke Guillaume's visit to Differdange from 5pm onwards via live stream and ticker. At 7pm, a special TV broadcast will air live from Place d'Armes, followed by the news at 7.30pm.

The torchlight procession, scheduled for 9.30pm, will not be broadcast this year. However, the fireworks display can be watched via live stream from 11pm onwards.

National Day

Coverage resumes on the morning of National Day with a special TV broadcast starting at 9.15am. RTL will be live at the Philharmonie to capture the arrival of guests of honour and the build-up to the official ceremony, which begins at 9.30am. On RTL Radio, live reports from various locations will be featured throughout the day.

At 11.45am, RTL will broadcast the military and civil parade from Avenue de la Liberté.

The Te Deum service, held at Notre-Dame Cathedral at 4.15pm, will also be broadcast and commentated live on RTL Télé and RTL.lu.

From 7pm onwards, RTL will air a summary of the day's highlights, featuring key moments, reactions, and scenes capturing the festive atmosphere across the country.

Alongside the official programme at the Philharmonie and the Te Deum at the Cathedral, National Day also features the games festival "Spillfest" on the Kinnekswiss. Nearby, City Sounds on the Glacis will continue on National Day from 5.30pm onwards, with the highlight being the free OneRepublic concert at 9pm.
