EU commissioner Didier Reynders presented the report’s findings in the Chamber of Deputies this week.
Luxembourg has implemented two out of three recommendations made in the last report, providing better access to legal aid and improving access to official documents.
However, the Grand Duchy has room for improvement when it comes to finer details, such as the the transparency register for MPs, which is not sufficiently detailed. One example is the fact the meetings with lobbyists are recorded merely as appointments, without additional information.
The report also criticised the information law for professional journalists, as it does not designate a concrete deadline by which administrations should publish information. There are also greater efforts required when it comes to the digitisation of civil, criminal or administrative proceedings.
