Its absence from the list of Michelin-starred restaurants in Luxembourg was almost an anomaly for some. So it’s finally the right year for Apdikt, run by Belgian-Luxembourg chef Mathieu Van Wetteren, in Steinfort. The result was announced on Monday morning in Antwerp, in the ‘A Room with a ZOO’ space, where the Belux 2024 Michelin Guide ceremony took place.
Aside from this latest addition, the only of nine restaurants to earn their first star this year, the list of one-starred restaurants in Luxembourg remains unchanged:
Ma Langue Sourit in Oetrange remains the only restaurant in Luxembourg to hold two Michelin stars.
A first green star, which Michelin began awarding in 2020, was this year given to Neon in Lier, Belgium, a restaurant run by Nils Proost. The Distillerie’s René Mathieu, two-time winner of the ‘Best vegetable restaurant in the world’ award, was present at the ceremony on Monday to hand out the award.
While two restaurants in Belgium received their second star, Michelin did not award any new third stars this year. Since Hof van Cleve lost its third star, only two three-starred restaurants remain in Belgium after this year’s awards.
As for the ‘Bib gourmand’, which is awarded to restaurants offering quality food at moderate prices, four restaurants in Luxembourg lost their status: Brasserie des Jardins, La Cantine du Châtelet, and Kamakura, all three in Luxembourg City, as well as Bistronome in Strassen.
