Passengers travelling with the Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) should note that maintenance work will be carried out from Saturday 28 March to Sunday 12 April on several railway lines.
With fuel prices reaching record highs, residents and cross-border commuters are increasingly reliant on soft mobility options. However, during the Easter holidays, work will be carried out on three major railway lines:
Train traffic will be interrupted on various sections of these lines. As usual, replacement buses will be provided. According to CFL, customers may also use regular RGTR and TICE bus routes as a complement.
Detailed timetables are available on cfl.lu, mobiliteit.lu, and via the CFL mobile or mobiliteit.lu apps. Due to the unpredictability of road traffic, CFL recommends that customers allow for an additional travel time of 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day.
After 25 years of service, the rails and railway sleepers between Bettembourg and Scheuerbusch will be renewed over a length of 7.8km. The work, carried out during the school holidays, will involve a track renewal train to accelerate the process. In total, 15.6km of rails, 13,000 sleepers, and 6,000 tonnes of ballast will be replaced. CFL will also use the interruption to carry out maintenance and cleaning work at various stops and stations along the line.

Renovation work will take place on the tracks between the Pulvermühle and Niedergrünewald viaducts. Having reached the end of their life cycle, over six kilometres of rails, 2,600 sleepers, and 100 tonnes of ballast will be renewed. In addition, a 1,900m section of track between Lorentzweiler and Lintgen will also be replaced.
Work will continue on the permanent removal of the PN13 level crossing in Dommeldange, specifically to allow for the installation of an underpass that will serve as an alternative for pedestrian and cyclist traffic beneath the tracks. Piles will be installed to form a watertight wall necessary for the underpass construction. As a reminder, the PN13 level crossing has been closed to road traffic since 7 June 2025.
