The Grand Ducal police confirmed on Sunday that a recidivist thief was arrested in a shopping centre in Kirchberg on Friday afternoon. According reports, security guards apprehended the perpetrator after he had tried to steal some clothes.
Shortly before the arrival of the police patrol, the thief attempted to flee and knocked down a woman on an escalator in the process. Fortunately, she suffered only minor injuries and the perpetrator was detained again by the shopping centre’s security service.
On arrival, the police were able to confirm that the individual had already been involved in a shoplifting incident a few days earlier. The public prosecutor promptly issued an order for the man’s arrest, leading to his subsequent appearance before an examining magistrate on a Saturday morning.
