Jacques Molitor, businessman, watchmaker, jeweller, and official supplier to the Grand Ducal Court, passed away on 27 February at the age of 92.

Molitor dedicated much of his life to his craft, working passionately until an advanced age at his eponymous business in Luxembourg City. For over 50 years, he personally served customers at his shop in the old town, a historic establishment dating back to 1867, located just a hundred metres from the Grand Ducal Palace.

Taking over the business in 1955, Molitor proudly held the title of official supplier to the Grand Ducal Court, a distinction highlighted on his jewellery and watchmaking shop’s website.

In a 2011 interview with our colleagues from RTL Radio, at the age of 79, Molitor declared that he had never considered retirement.
