Further details have emerged following Saturday morning’s fatal tractor accident in Remich.
Police had initially reported that a 67-year-old man died after suffering a medical emergency while driving a tractor. It has since been confirmed that the victim was local politician Jean-Marc Hierzig of the Democratic Party (DP), a member of the Remich municipal council.
The incident occurred at around 6.50am on Rue de Mondorf. According to police, emergency crews removed Hierzig from the tractor's cab and attempted to resuscitate him at the scene before taking him to hospital, where he later died.
Hierzig was a keen amateur winemaker, an active member of the Remich community, and the father of three children.
