According to the Red Cross, the public and school holidays of recent weeks have caused a sharp drop in blood reserves available in Luxembourg’s hospitals. While needs were adequately covered during the beginning of the year, the situation is now more tense as only a few days worth of stocks are at their disposal.

The Luxembourg Red Cross therefore calls on those who can to come and donate blood in the coming days. People can do so without appointment at the Blood Transfusion Centre (42, Boulevard Joseph II in Luxembourg City).

The Centre is open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8am to 4pm, and Wednesday and Thursday from 8am to 6pm. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the collection centre in Esch-Belval, located in the new medical centre (3-5, Avenue du Swing) is open from 8am to 4pm. A list of other external collection sites is available on the blood donation website. The collection sites are closed on public holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
