At a presentation on Thursday, deputy director Pierre Zimmer explained the results were down to a diversification of the group’s activities. He expressed his satisfaction at the report despite what he called a difficult year.
Last year, the industry experienced a significant decrease in couriers for the first time. The logistics sector, particularly the Asian market, also faced substantial challenges due to regulations and delivery bottlenecks. However, the Post Group anticipates a recovery within the next year, with plans to increase their engagement in the Greater Region.
Zimmer, who is currently managing the group in the absence of director Claude Strasser through illness, announced that the “Packup” network will be introducing new customer services. These will include the option to collect “avisé” packages - those that cannot be delivered to your home - through the network.
At Post Telecom, unsurprisingly, landlines have continued to decrease in popularity, while mobile phones and data are on the rise. As for Post Finance, Zimmer ruled out a reduction in fees for customers, despite the hike in interest rates. He pointed out that withdrawing money with the post office is free everywhere, and most services are offered free of charge to people under the age of 25.
