For many people it has long been customary to send new year’s wishes to physically distant friends and relatives, and that trend appears to continue growing.

A POST statement issued on Monday reveals that the mobile network of the telecommunications provider was used to exchange 168 terabytes of data, which equals a year-over-year increase of 1.8%.

Text messages recorded a more significant increase. While 379,300 were sent in 2022, that number rose to 653,234 in 2023, a staggering plus of 72%.

Since 2018, the number of text messages sent on New Year’s Eve and Day has continuously decreased by a great degree while the used data volume has significantly increased.
