Pickpockets typically strike in crowded places, exploiting moments of distraction to steal valuables before victims even notice. The police offer the following advice to help you stay safe.

  • Only carry the cash and bank cards you actually need.
  • Keep your bag closed and on your person at all times, and wear it on the front of your body where possible.
  • Store your wallet and other valuables in an inner pocket rather than an outer one, and
  • Maintain a safe distance from people you do not know.

Anyone who notices suspicious behaviour can report it to the police by dialling 113.
