Police were kept busy with multiple incidents from Friday evening through to early Saturday morning, which included three immediate driving licence revocations for alcohol-related offences.
At approximately 3.30am in Esch-sur-Alzette, officers responded to a report of an individual stumbling before driving away. After a brief search, they located and stopped the vehicle. The driver was found to be heavily intoxicated and had their licence confiscated following an on-the-spot check.
At 4am in Dudelange, police observed a car swerving across the road. The driver was also found to have been drinking and subsequently lost their driving licence.
Near Bourscheid, at around 5am, a patrol stopped a vehicle that was seen driving erratically. The driver there also tested positive on a breathalyser, resulting in licence revocation.
In all three cases, official reports were filed.
Separately, an altercation broke out between several people in the Rives de Clausen area of Luxembourg City early Saturday morning. Due to the resulting noise and a lack of cooperation from the group – some of whom were intoxicated – officers restrained a number of individuals. Three were taken to the police station, where two continued to be so disruptive that, following a medical examination, they were held in custody for the remainder of the night.
On Friday evening at around 7pm, police in Diekirch noticed an illegally parked vehicle. While checking the driver, officers detected a suspicious smell. All four occupants were identified and searched. The driver was found to have recently smoked marijuana, a second passenger was in possession of cannabis, and a third was discovered to be wanted for a prior drug offence.
