At 2pm on Tuesday, a burglar was reported to the police on Route des Trois Cantons in Bettange-sur -Mess after he was observed attempting to gain access to a ground-floor apartment through a window. A neighbour intervened and the suspect fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
Barely an hour later, the suspected burglar was spotted again on Rue du Kiem, where he had trespassed onto private land and gained access to a house through an open patio door. This time, he was surprised by the homeowner as he was searching through the cupboards. The suspect then fled, but was arrested by police soon after and fined.
Later on Tuesday, in Dudelange, another break-in was interrupted at around 3.45pm. A burglar was caught in the act by the property's owner as he attempted to gain access to a house on Rue de Burange. The owner was alerted by the sound of breaking glass as the burglar smashed the window.
The suspect fled towards the station. A search for the man yielded no results, but a complaint was filed with the authorities.
