During the controls specifically aimed at motorcyclists, the police checked the motorists’ equipment, the general technical state of their vehicle, and whether their documents were in order.
Around 340 fines and over 30 penalty notices were issued due to speeding. In addition, 60 motorcyclists were pulled over for dangerous driving manoeuvres, for instance while overtaking another vehicle.
104 motorists were unable to present the required documents during a check. 56 tickets were issued because drivers were not carrying a safety vest, while 47 drivers were penalised because their helmet was not in order. The police also took issue with the technical state of around 220 motorcycles, in particular because of faulty exhaust pipes, tyres, or lights.
Over the same period of time, the police also confiscated five driving licences for speeding offences, while seven motorists had to hand over their licence due to drunk driving.
The ‘Moto’ campaign is part of the police’s efforts to reduce the number of accidents on the Grand Duchy’s roads.
