The two men were spotted on Rue Jean Jaurès, where one of them was struggling to walk in a straight line and ended up in the road. Officers told the man to move back to the pavement, and he duly complied.
However, a short time afterwards, the patrol noticed a car struggling to exit a parking space. In addition, the vehicle’s lights had not been switched on. Police investigated and found the two heavily intoxicated individuals from earlier, attempting to drive away. Both were made to carry out breathalyser tests and the would-be driver was issued with a temporary driving ban.
