At the time of the incident, a transporter was blocking the Rue de Luxembourg in one direction. The driver of a white sports car decided to overtake the vehicle, despite the fact that there was still traffic coming head on in the other direction. The driver in question had to interrupt his manoeuvre suddenly, which caused a motorcyclist behind them to crash.
