Police patrols will target intoxicated motorists and speeding drivers in particular.
As part of the campaign, the police issued a reminder that alcohol played a role in 17% of serious crashes in 2021, as well as 33% of fatal collisions.
The police also published a series of tips to keep party-goers safe over the Carnival period, advising them to keep their personal belongings on them at all times, and be aware of pickpockets. In addition, party guests should exercise vigilance when drinking and never leave their glass unattended.
