Police were called to the Parc des Sports in Diekirch on Saturday evening following a scuffle during an under-19 league football match. A witness told RTL that the match between Young Boys Diekirch and FC Wiltz 71 had been “tense”.

There had reportedly been repeated verbal exchanges between players and supporters, which eventually escalated into a physical altercation involving both groups.

Police confirmed that a fight had broken out in the stadium, though no formal complaint was filed. By the time officers arrived, the situation had quickly calmed down.

Police remained on site until the end of the match to ensure order, and additional reinforcements that had initially been requested were ultimately not required.

The match resumed after the incident, which occurred after 65 minutes of play, and ended in a 1–1 draw.
