Emergency services were alerted at around 10.30pm on Tuesday after a car was reported ablaze on Rue d'Epernay in Luxembourg City. According to police, a security guard witnessed an individual attaching an object to the vehicle's tyre and then setting it alight before fleeing in the direction of Luxembourg-Gare.
Police officers arriving at the scene found the front right section of the car, as well as parts of the engine, already engulfed in flames. Officers initially managed to contain the fire using an extinguisher until firefighters arrived and fully extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.
Shortly after the incident, police apprehended a suspect in the area of Place de la Gare. The man was found in possession of a lighter, which was confiscated.
