The Luxembourgish police had a busy night with various cases of dangerous driving and illegal car tuning.

The police were called to Contern, where various vehicles were reported to have come together to perform dangerous manoeuvres. The officers were able to count over 200 cars whereupon they carried out a traffic control.

In the process, two driving licences were confiscated as the motorists were clearly speeding. In two cases, owners were informed that their cars still had to pass the technical inspection and their cars were thus towed away.

Eleven further minor offences were detected, such as broken lights or malfunctioning tires. These were subject to fine of 49 euros. On the other hand, undeclared tuning cost some drivers 149 euros and two points.

On Wednesday, a similar meeting was reported in Leudelange whilst several drifters were caught on Monday evening.

The police were called in on several other occasions. Shortly after 11 pm, officers stopped a car which had been speeding on Boulevard Royal. An alcohol check concluded the motorist had been drinking too much which resulted in the immediate confiscation of the drivers’ license. Given the vehicle insurance had also expired, the officers ordered the car to be towed away.
Later that night, a woman was stopped for driving in zigzags. She tested positive for alcohol. When the officers tried to confiscate her driving licence, they found out that the woman already had a driving ban against her and immobilised her vehicle on the spot.

Another driving licence was confiscated for drink-driving in Cents.
