Luxembourg's railways have announced the numerous projects taking place this year to improve the network.

CFL's huge investment project continues throughout 2020.

Several major projects, notably that of Luxembourg City's central station, the Bettembourg route, as well as the redevelopment of certain stations into interchange hubs are on the programme this year, which will result in track closures and train cancellations.

LINE 10, LUXEMBOURG - TROISVIERGES - GOUVY

The construction of the new Ettelbruck interchange and a Park+Ride in Mersch form part of the plans for this route. A number of track closures are planned for the week and weekends, particularly in April and the summer.

From Luxembourg to Dommeldange:

There will be no trains for four weekends at the end of the year: 3/4 and 10/11 October, as well as 5/6 and 12/13 December.

From Luxembourg to Ettelbruck:

Three weeks of closures are planned at the end of the summer holidays, from Saturday 22 August to Sunday 13 September. In addition, the line will be shut over the weekends of:

  • 15-16 February
  • 7-8 and 14-15 March
  • 25-26 April
  • 9-10 and 16-17 May
  • 28-29 November

From Ettelbruck to Diekirch:

This route will be subjected to six weeks of closures as follows:

  • Saturday 4 April to Sunday 19 April 
  • Saturday 15 August to Sunday 13 September 

A number of weekends will also be subjected to closures and train cancellations:

  • 15-16 February 
  • 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29 March
  • 25-26 April
  • 9-10 and 16-17 May
  • 20-21 and 27-28 June 
  • 4-5 July
  • 28-29 November

Ettelbruck to Troisvierges: 

There will be no trains running between Ettelbruck and Troisvierges for just over two weeks, from Saturday 4 April to Sunday 19 April. Weekends are affected as follows:

  • 20-21 and 27-28 June
  • 4 and 5 July
  • 10-11-12-13 September, and 19-20 and 26-27 September 
  • 17 and 18 October

LINE 30, LUXEMBOURG - WASSERBILLIG - TRIER

Luxembourg City to Oetrange:

  • no trains on the weekends of  9-10 and 16-17 May
  • 3-4 and 10-11 October
  • 28-29 November
  • 5-6 and 12-13 December

Oetrange to Trier: no trains on 14-15 and 21-22 November.

Wecker to Trier: no trains from Saturday 4 April to Sunday 19 April.

Wasserbillig to Trier: no trains on 26-27 September and 17-18 October.

LINE 50, LUXEMBOURG - KLEINBETTINGEN - ARLON

Belgian cross-border workers and residents of the west of the country will be deprived of trains for three weeks this year, during school holidays:

  • Saturday 11 to Sunday 26 July
  • Saturday 31 October to Sunday 8 November

The following weekends are also affected:

  • 29 February and 1 March; 14-15 March
  • Sunday 24 and 31 May

LINE 60, LUXEMBOURG - ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE - RODANGE

The main section of lines 60 and 90 between Luxembourg and Bettembourg will be closed for ten weekends:

  • 7-8 and 21-22 March
  • Sunday 7 and 14 June, 20-21 June and 27-28 June
  • Every weekend in July

Between Esch-sur-Alzette and Rodange: track closures for two weeks:

  • 30 May to 7 June

LINE 70, LUXEMBOURG - PÉTANGE - RODANGE - LONGWY

No trains between Luxembourg and Hollerich for certain weekends:

  • 29 February and 1 March, 14-15 March
  • Sunday 31 May
  • 18-19 and 25-26 July

Luxembourg to Dippach-Reckange: track closures on 19-20 September and 24-25 October.

There will be no trains from Luxembourg to Pétange on 16-17 and 23-24 May.

There will be no trains between Rodange and Athus on 6-8 November and 13-15 November.

LINE 90, LUXEMBOURG - METZ - NANCY

The main section of lines 60 and 90 between Luxembourg and Bettembourg will be closed for ten weekends:

  • 7-8 and 21-22 March
  • Sunday 7 and 14 June, 20-21 June and 27-28 June
  • Every weekend in July

There will be no closures during the week.
