Personnel shortages are the main concern in hospitals, with a number of staff either testing positive themselves or in quarantine after having been in contact with an infected person. Representatives from the four hospitals met with the Health Minister on Thursday to discuss further actions. According to RTL information, phase 3 could be triggered imminently, meaning non urgent activity would be limited.
Staff is currently the critical point in terms of guaranteeing the smooth running of hospitals, says Dr. Claude Schummer. At the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman, a total of 14 members of staff have tested positive and are isolating, with a further 22 people in quarantine. These absences are being felt.
At the CHL, the situation is similar. Around 30 people are out of commission because they have tested positive, in addition to around 60 who are quarantining, explains Dr. Romain Nati, director general of the CHL, in an interview with RTL.
