Since Thursday morning, 21 new petitions have gone online, with each needing to gather at least 5,500 signatures by May 27 to trigger a public debate in the Chamber. The petitioners’ demands once again cover a wide range of issues.
Proposals include capping fuel prices or reducing fuel excise taxes for residents during times of crisis. There are also calls to make national museums in Luxembourg City free again, to lower taxes for single people, and to restrict ADEM registration to residents only. Other demands suggest abolishing the promotion exam for civil servants and public employees in lower career brackets, as well as taking more consistent and decisive action to protect children from violence.
