The organisers, Karneval Gemeng Péiteng (KaGePe), invite everyone to celebrate the 69th edition of the Pétange carnival parade this Sunday.
The festivities begin at midday at the Place John F. Kennedy, with music and performances to thrill onlookers until the parade starts.
The traditional parade departs Porte de Lamadelaine at 2.11pm, following a 2.5 kilometre route through Rue de Longwy, Rue de Luxembourg and Rue de l’Eglise.
Sixty-nine groups are participating, with 30 floats, eight musical groups, and 31 folk groups. In total, the parade will have over 1,000 participants. Entry is free, and guests can purchase food and drink at numerous stands and cafés along the route.
Seating is available in covered areas near amenities with varying entry costs – see the ASBL KaGePe website for more details.
An after-party will be held at a heated marquee on Place John F. Kennedy until 10pm.
A park and ride system will be in place, with parking available at the CARENA sports field on Rue Eucosider, or at Cactus supermarket. Free shuttle buses will run between these two locations and the town centre.
The warm-up for the carnival kicks off on Saturday, with a children’s carnival party in the heated marquee on Place John F. Kennedy from 2pm to 6pm, followed by an adult disco from 9pm to 1am.
