Paul Gries, a longtime representative of the Union of Luxembourg Railway Workers’ (Syprolux), has been elected president of the Luxembourg Consumer Protection Association (ULC).
Gries secured victory in the board vote on Wednesday evening at the Casino Syndical in Bonnevoie during the general assembly, defeating former LSAP minister Paulette Lenert, who was delegated by the Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB).
Gries, active in the ULC for years and serving as treasurer overseeing finances, succeeds Nico Hoffmann, who led the organisation as president for 16 years and was a board member for 33 years. Hoffmann, formerly delegated by the LCGB, did not stand for re-election and was not elected as an independent board member.
By choosing Paul Gries, the ULC is relying on his extensive experience within the board, ensuring continuity for the organisation.
