On Sunday morning, the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) gathered to host their national congress. The main discussion point was a reform of statutes that one of the biggest parties in opposition intend to discard on Sunday. Politics’ action is demanded, and LSAP are ready to accept the responsibility.

In these politically uncertain times, the party emphasised the need to prove to people working in solidarity and remaining hopeful is a key element to creating a stable future.

As the right is experiencing a surge of popularity in society, a divide is expected to happen, according to the party presidents Dan Biancalana and Francine Closener. According to them, the socialists have steadily fought against the right, and they vow to continue doing so. This principle is outlined in a new political resolution that the congress was voting on this Sunday morning.

Approximately 300 representatives and 50 new delegates attended the national congress in Dudelange. LSAP ensured the new delegates that they are a party advocating peace, and that a democracy cannot function without social justice.

A second resolution envisions social dialogue as a pillar of Luxembourgish politics, therefore it should stay that way. The congress accepted both resolutions without further discussion.
