Extended deadlinePartial unemployment requests extended until 5 November

RTL Today
The Ministry of Labour has confirmed an extended deadline for partial unemployment requests, with businesses able to submit their requests until 5 November.

The original deadline of 12 October was pushed back to 5 November to allow businesses affected by the precariousness of the health crisis to submit their requests. Companies can submit their request using a form on guichet.lu. In order to make a decision following the high volume of requests, a special economic committee will meet in November following the deadline.

2,800 companies have had recourse to partial unemployment during the month of October, representing around 23,000 employees who received a lower salary than in normal times.

The peak was recorded in April with 11,500 companies having recourse to partial unemployment, affecting some 136,000 people.

The fall in wages in the event of partial unemployment is estimated to lie around six percent.
