However, Eurostat’s survey highlights significant variations in these statistics across EU member states.

Among EU nations, Sweden and Finlandtookthelead with the highest shares of enterprises using remote meetings, registering at 79.4% and 78.5%, respectively. Denmark closely followed with 78.0%, while Malta and Ireland demonstrated strong adoption rates at 68.3% and 63.6%.

On the other end of the spectrum, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Greece, and Slovakia reported the lowest utilization rates of remote meetings, ranging from 28.2% to 35.2%. These statistics underscore the varying degrees of technological preparedness among enterprises across different countries.

Methodology

To evaluate the technological readiness of enterprises for remote work, statistical data assessed their provision of remote access to three essential resources: email systems, documents, and business applications or software. Astonishingly, nearly 6 out of 10 EU enterprises (57.0%) with 10 or more employees or self-employed individuals offered remote access to all three resource types.

When analyzing the breakdown by enterprise size, large enterprises emerged as the frontrunners, with a remarkable 91.0% offering remote access to all three resource types. Medium-sized enterprises followed at 77.2%, while small enterprises trailed at 52.4%. Large enterprises exhibited robust adoption rates across the board, providing remote access to the email system (97.2%), company documents (94.0%), and business applications or software (92.4%).

Medium-sized enterprises displayed considerable strides in remote access as well, with 90.9% granting employees access to email systems, 83.0% to company documents, and 80.4% to business applications or software.

Comparatively, small enterprises lagged behind, with only 74.8% offering remote access to email systems, 60.9% to company documents, and 57.5% to business applications or software.

Luxembourg

In Luxembourg, the adoption of remote meetings stands slightly above the EU average, with 54.3% of companies utilizing internet-based meetings.

Back in January, a comprehensive study conducted by the Luxembourg Employers’ Association (UEL) has revealed that a significant number of employers express a strong preference for implementing remote work options for their employees.
