Weather & TrafficOrange alert for wind, flood & rain on Thursday

RTL Today
Yes, it sounds like a band from the 1970s — but it’s not Earth, Wind, Fire. It’s just oodles of rain, serious gusts, and some potential flooding for an Orange Alert Thursday.

Today’s forecast brings overcast skies with persistent, moderate rainfall — occasionally intensifying to heavy showers, with an Orange Alert in place for rain, flooding, and strong winds.

In certain areas of the country, we might see rainfall reaching over 30 litres per square meter within a 24-hour period. In other parts, expect rainfall ranging between 20 and 30 litres per square meter.

The current weather conditions suggest a potential risk of flooding. Stay alert and be prepared. For further details, visit www.inondations.lu (*issued by the Water Management Authority).

Brace yourself for sustained gusts, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. A yellow alert is in place for strong westerly winds between 65-75 km/h — with temporary gusts of 85-95 km/h.

As a cold front moves through, there’s a chance of thunderstorms, but fret not, as the rain and gusts will gradually taper off. Keep an umbrella handy, as light rain showers may linger.

Morning temperatures kick off at 5-7°C, increasing to 8-11°C in the afternoon, before dropping down to 7-10°C in the evening.
