According to emergency services in Saarland, a grey Mitsubishi travelling on the B407 towards Perl failed to give way at a junction, resulting in a violent collision with a Renault. The impact struck the driver’s side of the Renault, propelling the vehicle onto a pedestrian refuge and destroying a nearby road sign.

Following the collision, the Mitsubishi overturned several times before coming to a stop roughly 50 metres from the junction. The 59-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Saarbrücken hospital by an emergency medical helicopter.

The Renault’s occupants, aged 53 and 55, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Merzig hospital for medical assessment.
