Vakanz doheem? One in four summer holiday plans cancelled last year: Statec

RTL Today
Unsurprisingly, the Covid-19 crisis had a significant impact on the travel habits of the Grand Duchy's residents.

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC), one in four summer holiday plans was dropped in 2020. Overall, the total number of holidays people took last year was down by 24%.

Seven in ten holidays took place in Luxembourg or in one of the Grand Duchy's neighbouring countries. France remained the most popular holiday destination: More than every fifth holiday took place in the "Grande Nation".

France was followed by Luxembourg, which was the destination of 12% of all holidaymakers last year. STATEC also noted a substantial decrease in airplane travel in 2020.
