While companies are warning about the lack of professionals in the sector, the OGBL union believes that the companies themselves are largely responsible for this current lack of professional drivers.
In particular, the union accuses ‘well-known Luxembourgish companies’ of having opened subsidiaries in Eastern Europe ‘to take advantage of wage dumping and poorer working conditions’.
The union also cites a series of obstacles and poor working conditions in the sector, such as unpaid wages, unpaid overtime, and unofficial restrictions on trade unionism.
The OGBL insists that the lack of candidates in the sector can only be solved with decent wages and good working conditions.
