In their joint response to a parliamentary question from Yves Cruchten, a member of parliament from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), Minister of Justice Elisabeth Margue, Minister of Internal Security Léon Gloden, and Minister of the Economy Lex Delles make it clear that they expect the number of similar cyber-attacks to continue to rise.

However, the police currently lack statistics on the financial damage caused by these attacks, and no convictions have been secured in such cases thus far.

Within the public prosecutor’s offices in Luxembourg City and Diekirch, five individuals are specifically dedicated to handling phishing cases.

It is worth noting that as a measure against fraud or scams, operators now have the ability to block foreign telephone numbers under a new regulation introduced by the Luxembourg Regulatory Institute (ILR). This regulation empowers them to act when a foreign number is identified as part of a deliberate attempt at fraud or scam.
