Starting from 1 October, Germany will only permit cars equipped with M+S (Mud and Snow) all-weather tyres featuring jagged slats engraved with a snowflake symbol to be driven on roads if it snows or the roads are slippery.
In France, the regulations are slightly different. From 1 November until 31 March, motorists must install winter tyres or all-weather tyres engraved with a snowflake symbol. However, this requirement only applies in certain regions where it snows more frequently.
In Luxembourg, cars fitted with all-weather tyres, including those with only the M+S label, are still permitted on the roads. However, despite the lack of further obligations, authorities and the Luxembourg Motoring Association (ACL) recommend that motorists opt for all-weather tyres featuring a snowflake symbol, as they offer better safety in snowy or slippery conditions.
