The theft took place on Friday at around 5.30pm on Rue Pierre Maisonnet in Bonnevoie.

A man was targeted by two women on Rue Pierre Maisonnet at around 5.30pm on Friday evening. As he got off a bus, the two women approached him, distracted him and pulled him into a hug, using the moment to snatch a necklace from his neck. When he resisted, the thieves fled. An investigation has been opened.

Police also reported two burglaries. Shortly after 11pm on Friday evening, intruders broke into a single-family home on Rue Dr Orphée Bernard in Dudelange. The thinking is that three suspects climbed onto the balcony via a covered terrace and lifted a window.

Between 1pm and 4.40pm, a single-family home in Useldange was also broken into, with the perpetrators entering through a window on the porch. Investigations are ongoing in both cases.

Two arrests in Luxembourg City's Gare district

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, officers on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg City spotted a man crossing the street on a red light. When they tried to draw his attention to his behaviour, he punched the bonnet of the police car. The intoxicated man was uncooperative and behaved aggressively towards officers, and after a medical check he was placed under arrest.

A second man was also arrested after he was refused entry to an establishment on Rue de la Poste in the capital. Due to his aggressive behaviour, security staff detained him until officers arrived.
