As of SeptemberNational Health Directorate launches revised screening programme for colorectal cancer

RTL Today
The National Health Directorate has announced changes to its colorectal cancer screening programme to improve its reach and effectiveness.

This updated programme is aimed at residents and non-residents of Luxembourg who are affiliated with the National Health Fund (CNS) and are between the ages of 45 and 74. It introduces several significant improvements aimed at enhancing access to screening and increasing participation.

A major change is the appointment of Bionext as the new reference laboratory for the colorectal cancer screening programme. Invitations issued before 1 September that list Laboratoires réunis as the reference laboratory are still valid for this new phase.

Another key update involves the distribution of screening kits. Beneficiaries can now collect FIT (Fecal Immunochemical Test) kits from participating pharmacies and Bionext laboratory sampling centres, provided they present their invitation. The kits will be available in French and German starting 2 September, and in Luxembourgish, Portuguese, and English from 10 September.

Individuals who have previously participated in the programme will automatically receive a new screening kit with their invitation, eliminating the need for a separate request.

Further information on the programme, including how to participate and get tested, is available here.
