Prime Minister Xavier Bettel already announced the summit during his state of the nation address in October last year. The meeting is hoped to provide an opportunity for both sides to have a final discussion on planned amendments to the agriculture reform.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development issued a statement to announce that five aspects of the reform will be amended, including aids for investments, which are now set to be adjusted to the evolution of prices. Furthermore, the maximum amount for investments into heavy machinery will be increased and the list of machines eligible for aids will be revised.

It now remains to be seen whether the adjustments proposed by the government will be accepted by representatives from the sector.
