According to the National Office for Children (ONE), there are currently around 1,400 children living in children's homes in Luxembourg. Narin ASBL has thus made it their goal to deliver presents to at least 400 children across 30 institutions on St Nicolas' Day. On Saturday, the team assembled and wrapped the gifts at the Forum Campus Geesseknäppchen. Up until now, the "Smile" project has almost accumulated €5,000 in donations.
The project aims at bringing joy to the less-fortunate children in the Grand Duchy. 400 presents will therefore be delivered on 6 December, which is almost double the amount the organisation was able to provide in 2019. Due to the ongoing pandemic, it was unfortunately not possible for outside volunteers to aid in the wrapping process.
Narin ASBL came about after Luxembourg experienced an influx of refugees in 2015. The student organisation decided to help the children by providing toys and clothes with the help of donation campaigns. There are currently 10 active members working in the team on a regular basis.
