
Police were notified on Sunday afternoon of a driver travelling from Ettelbruck towards Fridhaff who was struggling to stay on course. Officers quickly identified the vehicle and issued a provisional driving ban after a positive breathalyser test.
Another incident occurred on the A7 near Asselscheuer later that day, where a motorist was stopped and also tested positive for alcohol. A provisional driving ban was issued. During a speed check in Ettelbruck on Rue de Bastogne, another driver was stopped for speeding. Officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis and seized a joint from the vehicle. The driver was also banned from driving.
On Monday, police stopped a female driver on the A7 on suspicion of drink driving. A breathalyser test confirmed that she had exceeded the legal limit.
Police also carried out large-scale alcohol checks in northern Luxembourg on Sunday. In Vianden, Gilsdorf and Erpeldange, 706 drivers were tested on orders of the public prosecutor’s office. Two tests returned positive results, with one driver receiving a standard fine. Five additional traffic offences were recorded, with standard fines issued in each case.
