On Friday evening, police attended public disturbances and drink driving reports in Luxembourg City, Ettelbruck, and Esch-sur-Alzette leading to arrests and license confiscations.

On Friday afternoon, police in Ettelbruck were alerted to an individual behaving aggressively near the entrance of the hospital at around 15.30. When officers arrived, they found the person refusing to leave the premises. As the individual was highly intoxicated, they were taken for a medical check and then held in custody to sober up.

Close to 8pm, a person became aggressive towards staff in a café on Rue Xavier Brasseur, Esch-sur-Alzette, accusing a waitress of having stolen their mobile phone. When leaving the premises, the person damaged the café door. When officers intervened, the person refused to calm down and continued to behave aggressively, resulting in their arrest.

At 9pm, police in the capital received reports of a highly intoxicated individual on board a bus on Rue du Glacis, Limpertsberg. When the person disembarked the bus, they fell over and injured themselves. Officers attempted to treat them at the scene but the person fought back physically and verbally. As a result, they were taken to a cell overnight to sober up, and were also charged with abusing police officers and issuing threats.

Shortly before midnight, police were called out to Rue Bender in the capital to deal with yet another drunk individual. This time, the person responded poorly to the authorities’ arrival and began hitting the patrol car while screaming loudly. They proceeded to behave aggressively towards officers and had to be immobilised and taken into custody.

Driving under the influence

Two motorists were caught driving under the influence overnight. At around 1.45am, a car crashed into a roundabout on Route d’Arlon, Strassen. The three occupants of the car were taken to hospital for checks after the accident. As the driver failed to pass a breathalyser test, they had their licence taken away.

At 3.20am, a car was spotted weaving precariously across the A4 motorway. Police pulled the vehicle over near Pontpierre and established that the driver was intoxicated. Their licence was confiscated as a result.
