
The so-called budget week in the Chamber of Deputies is set to kick off on Tuesday afternoon, with MP Diane Adehm of the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) scheduled to present the official report at 2.30pm. Debates will take place on Wednesday and Thursday before lawmakers are to vote on the budget.
State finances were already on the agenda of the respective Chamber commission on Monday. Government revenue in the first trimester registered a year-over-year increase of 9.5%, equalling close to €525 million. At the same time, spending rose by €204 million.
Finance Minister Gilles Roth reiterated the government’s commitment to alleviating financial pressure on households through tax reliefs, noting that the tax scale has already been adjusted and that further measures are on the horizon.
