
The 41-year-old from Dippach will be responsible for issuing a report on the budget project for 2023, which Minister of Finance Yuriko Backes is scheduled to file in October this year. The final vote on the budget will take place in December.
MP Hahn thus takes over the role formerly held by MP Dan Biancalana from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP). The government coalition between DP, LSAP, and the Greens agreed on a rotation where the two former parties each name two budget rapporteur and the latter one over the course of the five-year legislative period.
In political circles, the state budget is known as the most important law of the year. It is custom for the rapporteur to not make substantial changes to the project, but rather add recommendations and comments. However, amendments have been made in some past budgets.
